Born and raised in the BOONDOCKS

I was recently asked to write an article about my favourite country artist and after thinking about it for a short while I knew I would have to choose Little Big Town. Comprised of four members (Jimi Westbrook, Karen Fairchild, Kimberly Schlapman and Phillip Sweet) the quartet are probably one of the most underestimated country groups in my opinion.

Their win of Vocal Group Of The Year at 2012's CMA Awards marked their very first CMA win and was months after the release of their most recent album Tornado. As a fan it was something great to be able to see and you could tell the group were very shocked but they still came across very humble.

The quartet also played at the first C2C: Country To Country Festival last year where I know they surprised a lot of people and won over lots of new fans. They have also since hinted that they will return to play in the UK - something that I think will most likely happen once their new album has been released.

They have an undoubtedly more traditional sound than a lot of the country groups at the moment but it has to be said that their harmonies are flawless and it is refreshing to hear a group where every member is as strong a vocalist as each other.

My favourite album of Little Big Town's is probably The Reason Why, which was released in 2010. The tracklist combines songs which are led by each of them and the album as a whole features some of my favourite songs including Shut Up TrainAll The Way Down, Rain On A Tin Roof and Lean Into It

I would definitely recommend that everyone listens to this incredibly talented band, it took them thirteen years (!) to win their first CMA Award but I am sure they will continue to grow and grow. There is already such a buzz around their next album release and I for one can't wait to hear it!

All in all, an incredibly talented group who always come across as really lovely people. Their exquisite vocal harmonies and all round skill should have won them many more accolades in my opinion but they certainly have a very supportive fan base and I hope the industry awards will continue to grow in number.
