Country to Country: Day 2
The second day at the 02 was equally as good at the first. An amazing atmosphere, a family of country music fans and awesome talent to celebrate.
Walking around the pop up stages it was great to see a variety of country genres; blue grass, rock and some completely unique styles accompanied by some fabulous song writing. Among the acts on the pop up stages were the beautiful Hannah Jane Lewis, Hometown Show, Gary Quinn, Raintown, Striking Matches and Jill and Kate. Apologies to all the acts that we missed, however the beauty of this festival is to leave you wanting more!
On the main arena stage, Chris Young opened the evening with a great set. This man has a fantastic, deep country voice and clearly loves his job. Songs 'Lonely Eyes', 'Who I Am With You', 'Sharp Dressed Man' and 'I can take it from there' showed off his talent. Playing a variety of tracks, for people in love, drinkers etc. Ending with the fabulous 'Tomorrow`, a superb set!
Following Chris were the increasingly popular The Band Perry. They are certainly unique with a huge energy. Very keen to get the audience involved in the party. This trio are made up of siblings Kimberley, Neil and Reid Perry who are great musicians with fantastic harmonies. They treated us to tracks such as 'Love All Your Life' and a great cover of 'Fat Bottomed Girls'. Although they were not to our taste, they gave 100% and have a tremendous following here in the UK.
The incredible Rascal Flatts were next on stage. Gary, Joe and Jay are awesome! Very enthusiastic, energetic and are fantastic performers. Playing a variety of their classics such as 'Why Wait', 'God Bless The Broken Road', 'Stand', 'What Hurts The Most' and 'Life is a Highway' with new tracks off their new album 'Rewind'. The audience were dancing and singing along... Brilliant!
Our headliner for the weekend, none other than Brad Paisley, started with a bang with 'My Tennessee Home', he has such a great personality and involves as many people as possible. A real treat was a duet with Chris Young with 'Outstanding in our Field' and 'Whiskey Lullaby' with the gorgeous voice of Kimberley Perry. With an introduction to the genre 'This Is Country Music' with a lovely message to George Jones at the end. Other fabulous tracks included 'She's Everything', 'Nervous Breakdown', 'Mud On The Tyres', 'I'm Gonna Miss Her',
Moving from the large stage to a smaller stage at the back (so everyone can see him!) singing 'Online' and 'I'm Still a Guy'.
To end, the fabulous 'Alcohol'. Truly awesome, this man knows how to put on a show!! Superb videos to accompany his songs, an outstanding band, overall a fabulous performance.
Overall, a brilliant weekend! A huge well done to all of the organisers, acts and country music fans for a superb event! Bring on next year!
